REAL ingredients in this bar... no added crap!

I have an opinion about most of the "nutrition" bars out on the market... they are full of a bunch of stuff we don't need, like hydrolyzed soy isolate, barley malt extract, modified food starch, and corn syrup. Go ahead -- I dare you to read the label of whatever bar you have in your purse, your drawer at work or your car!

When I read a label these days, I see if I can picture the ingredient in my head. If I can't, it probably means that it isn't natural or whole. I'm not saying I don't ever eat weird ingredients but I try to be conscious of it!

Which brings me to LaraBars. They taste REALLY good. They are the right amount of sweet and it's amazing that there are only two ingredients, cashews and dates,  in the Cashew Cookie Flavor. There are no more than 8 ingredients in any flavor!

Take a look at the ingredients (and picture them in your head) of the LaraBar Tropical Fruit Tart flavor (the one with the most ingredients):
  • Dates
  • Pineapple
  • Unsweetened Coconut
  • Almonds
  • Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
  • Cashews
  • Orange Juice Concentrate
  • Orange Peel

Now take a look at (and picture in your head) the ingredients of the Zone Perfect All Natural Nutrition Bar:
  • Caramel (Corn Syrup, Nonfat Milk, Sugar, Fractionated Palm Kernel Oil, Glycerine, Milk Protein Concentrate, Cream, Natural Flavor, Salt, Soy Lecithin, Disodium Phosphate)
  • Soy Protein Nuggets (Isolated Soy Protein, Tapioca Starch, Salt)
  • Milk Chocolate Flavored Coating (Sugar, Palm Kernel Oil, Nonfat Dry Milk Solids, Cocoa Powder, Soy Lecithin, Salt, Natural Flavor)
  • Corn Syrup
  • Gum Arabic
  • Guar Gum
  • Sodium Caseinate
  • Glycerine
  • Peanuts.
  • Less Than 2% Of The Following:
    • Soy Protein Isolate
    • Water
    • High Oleic Safflower or High Oleic Sunflower Oil
    • Natural Flavor
    • Salt.
    • Vitamins And Minerals: Calcium Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid, d-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, Magnesium Oxide, Niacinamide, Zinc Oxide, Calcium Pantothenate, Ferrous Fumarate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Folic Acid, Chromium Chloride, Biotin, Sodium Selenite, Sodium Molybdate, Cyanocobalamin.

Ewwwww yuck.

I think I'll stick with the Larabar.
